Set out to the Imbabura region north of Quito to visit the popular tourist town of Otavalo; famous for its crafts and textiles. Then go for a short hike at the waterfall in Peguche to enjoy some nature close by.
A true off-the-beaten-path destination can be found just north of Quito on the way to Otavalo. You can relax at the small pier by the lake or set out on one of the trails that surround the lake.
Discover several rescued bird species which include Condors, Eagles, and Hawks that now take refuge at this site. Catch a bird of prey in flight and enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and lake.
These two sites in the city center serve as excellent viewpoints of colonial Quito. El Panecillo has several stalls selling food, drink, and souvenirs. La Libertad has a museum with the history of the Battle of Pichincha.
Head out on an adventure to visit the clear turquoise green lake which lies in a volcanic caldera. The viewpoint has great views of the lake and you can hike down to rent some kayaks to set out into the lake.
