Go on a day trip from Quito to the hot spring pools at Papallacta. This resort has accommodation as well as pools open to the public. There are different pools with different temperatures and also a polar pool.
Found in the north of Quito, Ciudad Mitad del Mundo is a complex with museums where you can learn about the site and Ecuador. You can climb to the top of the central monument for views of the landscape and city.
Being one of the lesser-known beaches, its sandy shores lay untouched and perfect for unwinding in or going for seaside walks. There are also several restaurants with seaside views serving freshly caught seafood.
Flights in South America are relatively expensive so the most popular form of transport is by coach. The two-day trip going through the Ecuadorean Andes and Peruvian coast was tiring but well worth the journey.
